Shohei Ohtani has revealed the identity of his new wife by sharing a photo of the couple on his social media platform.

In the picture, the Los Angeles Dodgers star is seen alongside Mamiko Tanaka, with teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto standing beside them in front of an airplane. Ohtani posted the photo on his Instagram account. Additionally, the Dodgers shared a photo of the newlyweds on the team's official account, juxtaposed with one of Mookie Betts and his wife.

The couple also makes an appearance in a video depicting the team and their families boarding a plane for South Korea on Thursday.

In a surprising turn of events, Ohtani announced in late February that he had recently tied the knot with "a normal Japanese woman" whom he had been acquainted with for a few years. However, the versatile player did not provide any specifics regarding her identity or the details of their wedding.

Tanaka, aged 27, previously competed for the Fujitsu Red Wave in the Women’s Japan Basketball League from 2019 to 2023.

Meanwhile, Ohtani, aged 29, is anticipated to make his debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, serving as the designated hitter in the opening game against the San Diego Padres in Seoul. Notably, he will not be pitching this season due to undergoing elbow surgery last fall.
