Through its month-long presence in cinemas, 'Oppenheimer' directed by Christopher Nolan broke the $700 million threshold in global box office sales, as reported by Forbes, to become the fourth success this year in the worldwide rankings.
'The movie 'Oppenheimer' has achieved an impressive total of $717.8 million from both domestic and international releases, exceeding its $100 million expense limit. The US domestic total of $285.2 million was accompanied by $432.6 million from abroad.'
The success of 'Oppenheimer' has pushed the movie into fourth place at the global box office for the year after 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' ($1.35 billion), Greta Gerwig’s 'Barbie' ($1.2 billion), and Marvel's 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3' ($845 million), dethroning 'Fast X' and 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.'
Oppenheimer is expected to take the fourth spot as Nolan's highest-grossing worldwide film following 'Inception,' 'The Dark Knight' and 'The Dark Knight Rises,' surpassing 'Interstellar.'
A lone R-rated title occupied one of the spots in the 10 most successful films worldwide this year which was the biopic. Previously, the preeminent highly-lucrative R-rated movie was 'John Wick 4,' the Chad Stahelski directing with Keanu Reeves in the leading part.
The movie focuses on J. Robert Oppenheimer, an intricate scientist who significantly contributed to the development of the atomic bomb during WWII through the Manhattan Project.
