Earlier this year, Rizzo faced criticism for entering into a new relationship after the passing of her late husband, Bob Saget, two years ago.
On February 4th, Rizzo and Meyer attended a Grammys viewing party together. Rizzo addressed their romance in an interview with E! News, expressing that she finally felt ready to date again after Saget's passing.
“It took a while to get to the point where I’m like, ‘OK, I think he’d be happy with it,’” she shared.
However, Rizzo revealed in a TikTok video on March 10th that she received comments from some people after going public with the relationship, accusing her of moving on "too fast."

In the extensive video, Rizzo responded to a supportive comment addressing the criticism of her "moving too fast" in her new relationship. The commenter questioned how long she should wait, considering it had been two years since Saget's passing, emphasizing that he wouldn't be returning and that she deserved happiness.
Acknowledging the majority of positive feedback she received since Saget's passing on January 9, 2022, Rizzo addressed those who have been judgmental about her dating after losing her spouse. She firmly stated that those who haven't experienced such loss shouldn't comment on it, as they don't understand the emotional journey.
Rizzo shared her inner turmoil of feeling guilty, ashamed, and lonely when contemplating dating again after her spouse's death. She disclosed that she waited approximately 18 months before deciding to explore a new relationship, emphasizing that everyone's grieving process is different.
Expressing frustration at the perception of her moving too quickly into a new relationship, Rizzo highlighted that it had been well over two years since Saget's passing. She emphasized the importance of honoring the deceased spouse while being true to one's feelings and receiving support from their loved ones and friends.
Rizzo revealed her initial concerns about finding someone who would understand that her late husband would always be a part of her life until she met Meyer.

And that means so much to me because I knew that I was going to have to find somebody who just got it. And fortunately, I was lucky enough to find that," she praised.
Concluding her message, she expressed her desire to continue discussing the challenges and experiences of dating as a widow.
During her conversation with E! News, Rizzo, who married Saget in 2018, expressed her confidence in going public with her new relationship, citing the support of her late husband's three adult daughters, whom he shared with ex-wife Sherri Kramer, as a significant factor rooting her on as she embarks on dating again.
“It’s wonderful, it just meant so much to have their blessing,” she said. “They’re just angels. And to have them support is so meaningful.”
Meyer is an actor and comedian recognized for his roles in the “Garfield” movies, “Clueless,” “Rat Race,” and “The Craft,” as well as his voice work in “King of the Hill” and “Robot Chicken.” He was previously married to screenwriter and director Deborah Kaplan from 2001 to 2014.
Saget was discovered deceased in an Orlando hotel room on January 9, 2022, at the age of 65. His cause of death, head trauma, was later disclosed.
Since Saget's passing, Rizzo has shared numerous tributes to her late husband and even accepted an award on his behalf. In 2023, she commemorated the one-year anniversary of his passing, joined by Saget's "Full House" co-stars.
Rizzo discussed the prospect of dating again during an interview with "Extra" in October 2023. When asked if she would consider going on a date if asked, she responded, "I'm open to it, yes."
Two months later, Rizzo conversed with Fox News Digital and disclosed that Saget's daughters had given her their approval to start dating again.
“Even though it’s something that you don’t think you need permission for, it meant everything to me to have their blessing and just knowing that they want me to be happy and that they love me. And the two of them saying that Bob would want me to be happy meant everything because they’re his kids. They knew him best," she said.
“I’d love to think that Bob would want me to be happy too, but to hear it from them is just a totally different level,” she continued. “And it meant the world just to hear, ‘Hey, we trust you. We love you. We know you’re going to do what’s right, and we want you to be happy.’”
