Caitlyn Jenner's response to O.J. Simpson's death has stirred up discussions among fans, prompting some to recall a tragic multi-car accident she was involved in nearly a decade ago.

Following the announcement of Simpson's death by his family on April 11, Jenner posted the following message on X: "Good Riddance #OJSimpson."

The 74-year-old's statement appeared to allude to Simpson's controversial reputation and the allegations he faced regarding the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, for which he was later acquitted.

Many social media users were swift to point out what they saw as a level of hypocrisy in Jenner's comment, given her involvement in a fatal car crash in 2015 that resulted in the death of a woman.

"You killed somebody too tho," remarked one X user.

"Err, You might want to sit this one out!" commented another.

In response to the criticism, Jenner posted a follow-up message on X, addressing the comments made by others.

"I know you all think it’s cute to compare a fatal car accident (with multiple vehicles involved) to a BRUTAL MURDER… But Remember…OJ said something to the effect of…I could kill her (Nicole) and get away with it bc I’m #OJSimpson," she wrote.

Social media users had varied reactions to Jenner's follow-up post, with some maintaining that she remained responsible for someone's death.

"'With multiple vehicles involved,' your vehicle was the cause of it and you still killed somebody and got away with it just like he did," one individual remarked, followed by a suggestion to "Be quiet."

"It’s not cute it’s facts you can't live in a glass house and throw stones," another commenter pointed out.

However, some social media users took a different stance, suggesting that the reactions were exaggerated.

"How can you compare a car accident to a murder? Haters all of them..," one person wrote.

Another urged everyone to calm down, stating, "You are both awful. Glad we could settle that."

What happened during Caitlyn Jenner's 2015 car accident?

In February 2015, Jenner's vehicle collided with the rear of a Lexus, which then collided with another car in a multi-vehicle accident, as reported by NBC News. The impact pushed the Lexus into the southbound lane of the highway, where it was struck head-on by another vehicle. Tragically, the driver of the Lexus, identified as Kim Howe, lost her life in the accident.

Following an investigation, it was determined that Jenner was driving at a speed too fast for the prevailing traffic conditions.

Despite the circumstances, Jenner was not charged in connection with the incident. Prosecutors decided against pursuing misdemeanor manslaughter charges against the celebrity for several reasons, including the fact that she remained at the scene of the accident and was driving in accordance with the flow of traffic, as per NBC News.
