Police are currently investigating an incident on Sydney's North Shore that may have implicated Scott Swift, the father of pop star Taylor Swift.

In an official statement, the New South Wales Police informed NBC News that "a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man" at Neutral Bay Wharf around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 27, 2024, before leaving the scene.

While the police did not officially confirm the identity of the older man involved in the incident as Scott Swift, reports suggested that he was the 71-year-old mentioned in the police statement. In response to these reports, Taylor Swift's representative provided the following statement to NBC News:

"Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water," the representative said.

The statement did not specify the exact involvement of Scott Swift in the incident.

The New South Wales Police confirmed that the 51-year-old man did not require medical treatment and reported the incident to the police.

As of the evening of Feb. 26, Taylor Swift is currently on the international leg of her widely acclaimed "Eras Tour," with her final show in Australia completed.

Taylor Swift has openly expressed her enjoyment of her time in Sydney over the past week. The pop star was observed at the local zoo multiple times, including one visit with her NFL star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who also attended her concert.

On the initial night of her performances in the island nation, Taylor Swift mentioned that she had spent "100% of our days off" at the zoo.

In a video posted on social media by TikTok user meganck_02, Taylor Swift can be seen confirming that she and fellow singer Sabrina Carpenter had embraced the role of tourists.

"I’m really all about the red panda," Taylor Swift mentioned during the first night of her Sydney shows. "I think you guys don’t understand how cool kangaroos are because you have so many. They are so cool, so strong. So bouncy."

Following the Australia shows, Taylor Swift is set to travel to Singapore for a series of six shows beginning on March 2.
