Usher captivated the audience with his electrifying Super Bowl halftime performance. Despite the star-studded lineup and impressive collaborations, fans couldn't help but notice the absence of Justin Bieber.

Lil Jon revealed that Bieber was initially approached to join the halftime show but ultimately decided he "wasn't really ready."

"We wanted to include Justin in the show, so we had the idea of incorporating him into it," Lil Jon shared during an interview with TMZ Live. "However, I think Justin just wasn't fully prepared. It requires a lot of rehearsals, responsibility, time, and attention from the audience. I'm not sure if he was ready to commit to all of that."

While Bieber was present at the event, he opted to watch the performance alongside his wife Hailey Bieber from the stands as Usher took center stage. Notable guest performers during Usher's set included Ludacris, Alicia Keys, will.i.am, Jermaine Dupri, and H.E.R.

"I mean, he definitely was there supporting Ush," Lil Jon commented regarding Bieber's attendance. "They're really good friends, and he definitely was supporting him regardless."

The rapper acknowledged that Bieber did not participate in rehearsals but mentioned that he "was considering" performing.

"I don't know if he was ready to take on that responsibility," Lil Jon continued, emphasizing, "It's a significant amount of time you have to commit to being part of a show like this."

A representative for Bieber did not respond immediately to YEPPOST.com's request for comment.

Bieber was discovered by Scooter Braun and signed to their and Usher's record label, Raymond Braun Media Group, in 2008. The Canadian singer and Usher have collaborated on songs such as "Somebody to Love Remix" and "First Dance." They also performed a duet of "The Christmas Song" on the YEPPOST plaza in 2011.

Even though he didn't perform that night, Bieber did take the time to congratulate Usher on his performance.

“LOVE YOU MY BROTHER. NOONE CAN SING AND DANCE THE WAY YOU DO. LOVE YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART. BROUGHT THE ‘A’ TO THE WORLD,” Bieber captioned a photo of Usher on the Super Bowl stage. “ONLY YOU BABYYYYYY.”

The "Sorry" singer hasn't been regularly performing for years. In June 2022, he disclosed that he was dealing with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which resulted in paralysis on half of his face, prompting him to take a hiatus from touring. Later in 2022, he announced a pause in his "Justice" world tour to prioritize his health.

"After resting and consulting with my doctors, family, and team, I attempted to continue with the tour in Europe. I performed six live shows, but it had a significant impact on me," he shared in September 2022. He further explained, "Following my performances, exhaustion set in, and I realized that my health needs to be my main focus right now. Therefore, I'll be taking a break from touring for the time being."

By February 2023, he had canceled the remaining dates of his tour. It was only earlier this month that the singer made a triumphant return to the stage with a surprise performance in Toronto on February 1, ahead of the NHL All-Star Weekend.
